The 55th Belgrade Festival of Documentary and Short film will be held on March 26-30, 2008 under the slogan “All that is nice…” in the Cultural Center Hall and the Museum of the Yugoslav Film Archive. The ceremonial opening and closing of the Festival shall see the handing over of awards and the screening of the awarded films in the Theatre in Terazije. A significant number of authors are expected, as well as foreign and domestic critics.
The Committee of the Festival has unanimously decided that this year’s Life Achievement Award be awarded to renown film author and pedagogue Marko Babac. The monograph about his life and creative path will also be promoted during the Festival.
The Committee of the Festival has also launched a competition for the conceptual design of the following, 56th Festival. Participants in the competition will be students of the Faculty of Applied Arts and the BK Academy. During the Festival an exhibition of works notified shall be held and the victorious design will be promoted on the final festival evening.
Domestic and foreign films from the competition program are divided by blocks: documentary, animated, experimental and short feature.

Artistic Director of the Festival Janko Baljak has made the selection of the international competition program. He has chosen the films out of 206 notified titles and directly after having examined the programs of international film festivals. He has chosen 43 films for the official competition program.
The International Jury of the Festival, which will evaluate both the domestic and foreign selection and decide upon the awards according to the propositions, comprises three members from abroad and two domestic representatives.
