53rd BELGRADE FESTIVAL OF DOCUMENTARY AND SHORT FILM

PRESS RELEASE ABOUT THE WINNERS OF OFFICIAL AWARDS OF THE 53rd BELGRADE FESTIVAL OF DOCUMENTARY AND SHORT FILM

In accordance with the rules of the Belgrade Festival and the Bylaw on the work of the Jury, after having reviewed all the films from both competition programs of this year's festival and after two sessions held, the international festival jury consisting of:

Svetlana Popovic, Chairman
and members:
Giannalberto Bendazzi
Hugo Salinas
Andrei Paunov and
Goran Radovanović

has unanimously adopted the following

D e c i s i o n s:

I)
Four Diplomas of the Festival for individual author's contribution in the films of the domestic competition program were awarded to:
- For best camera work, the cameraman of the film “Smoke” - MILAN STANIC
- For best animation work, the animator of the film "A Naive Story" - MARIJA MILANOVIC – LAZAREVSKI
- For best editing, the editor of the film “The Cuban” - MARIJA JACIMOVIC
- For best music, the composer and sound designer of the film “Dossier Rat" - NEMANJA MOSUROVIC.

II)
THE GOLDEN MEDAL BELGRADE and one thousand euros to the producer for best production of a group of films were awarded to the FACULTY OF DRAMA ARTS in Belgrade.

III)
THE GOLDEN MEDAL BELGRADE and one thousand euros were awarded to:
- For best film of the international competition program in the cathegories of short featured, animated or experimental film ( non-documentary ): the Director of "City Paradise" – GAELLE DENIS.
- For best film of the international competition program: the Director of the film "La casa de mi abuela" – ADAN ALIJAGA.

IV)
THE GOLDEN MEDAL BELGRADE and one thousand euros each – for best film by cathegory of the domestic competition program, were awarded to:
- For best documentary film, the director of the film “The Cuban” - RASTKO PETROVIĆ.
- For best animated film, the director of the film "Princess on the Wall" - IVA ĆIRIĆ.
- For best short animated film, the director of the film "Dossier Rat" - MINA DJUKIĆ.
- The award for best experimental film has not been awarded.

V)
THE GOLDEN MEDAL BELGRADE and two thousand euros – for best film of the international competition program, the director of the film "The Fan and the Flower"– BILL PLIMTON.

THE GOLDEN MEDAL BELGRADE and two thousand euros – for best film of the domestic competition program, the director of the film "Europe Over the Fence" - ŽELIMIR ŽILNIK.

VI)
GRAND PRIX – the statuette of the Festival and three thousand euros – for best film of both competition programs, the director of “METAMORF” – RASTKO CIRIC.

The Jury began its work with its establishment on April 10 at 9h and finished it on April 13 at 21h with the adoption of all above mentioned unanimous decisions. The explanation of the decisions shall be announced today by the Chairman of the Jury, Mrs. Svetlana Popovic, on today's press conference.
The awards shall be handed over this evening (15.04) at 20,30h on the occasion of the ceremonial closure of the Festival.
